Gas Cooker / Hob - Installation
Very easy to organise and communicate with to arrange the job. Shaun replaced an old integrated gas hob with a new one. Explained what needed done and provided a fair quote for the work . The job completed to an excellent standard , all the packaging etc taken care of. Would highly recommend , professional and reliable .

Gas Boiler - Installation
Couldn’t fault the service and plan on using him again.

Shaun did a boiler check and gas leak fix for me ages ago. I've only just worked out how to put a rating on the system! Shaun and his compadre did a great job - turned up on time, explained what the steps and options were, and at a fair and honest price. I've already recommended him to pals. Thanks Shaun, see you for the next boiler check!
Radiator
I had no hot water but radiators were working fine. It looked like a blockage. To address it Shaun could offer a 500pound power flush with no guarantee it would work, or a new system for 2500pounds. what he couldn't do or perhaps wasn't willing was find and clear the blockage. he still took 50pounds for turning up and giving those two expensive options. I fixed it myself with a bit of guidance from YouTube. Sorry Shaun, not impressed.

John, I am appalled at your review. Any engineer who assessed the issue in your house would have given you the same advice. The sludge in your heating system is extremely bad and I even showed you this. You even admitted that you seen this some YEARS ago when cleaning your radiators out. Therefore you actually do need a powerflush and quick. So the natural assumption would be that a blockage is present.

I advised you about replacing your boiler as not only is it around 25 years old but most parts for it will be obsolete, also it is very inefficient. So again you were correctly advised as you had mentioned you plan to sell your house and as your heating system is in a terrible condition I was simply pointing out what any potential house buyer would find.

With regards to the actual job you were undercharged for the time I spent. I explained the £50 call out charge and any time after that is chargeable, I was there well over an hour and was in your attic, under the floor and all over your house checking radiators etc trying to find the issue, but I kept it at £50 out of courtesy, which I now see was totally unappreciated.

In a nutshell, I gave you a variety of options and returning to investigate the fault further was one of them. You were more concerned about finding a cheap fix rather than a long term solution. Unfortunately once a while we engineers face undue criticism from customers regardless of our efforts and honest advice. All my other reviews are a true reflection of how I work.

I found and cleared the blockage next day myself and now have hot water working. You were right a power flush wouldn't have worked though it could do with it and a new system long term is the answer. I didn't have the money for those options just now so wanted the cheaper repair option. IE Identify where the main problem is and clear it.

I've changed the rating because we don't see it the same way and you did me a favour by keeping your charge that day to 50 pounds.

The irony here is that you initially thought the spindle on the zone valve was faulty, so you had no idea what the problem was until I showed you the sludge and concluded there was a blockage. I also said on the day if you want me to come back and try to find the blockage I would, as it was after 5pm at this point and I wasn’t going to spend potentially hours in your home that evening searching for a blockage.
- TRADESPERSON, 20/04/2019 15:13
I also said I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable taking 500 pounds for a powerflush that may not resolve your issue, that’s why I advised that upgrading your heating system to a combi boiler and having a powerflush carried out is by far the best and only real option, as all you have done here is temporarily unblock something that will undoubtedly block up again.

Your review is totally unwarranted and undeserved.

It's not nice to feel you've been unfairly criticised. I appreciate that, So I've changed the rating. You pointed me towards a solution that worked out right for me in the end.
