MBi is a flooring company for the domestic and small commercial market. With over 20 years in the trade, we have been successfully installing floor coverings on projects for a wide ranging client base; home owners, landlords, retail shops, gyms, pharmacies, offices, schools and more. The types of flooring we install include: LVT (Amtico, Karndean, Moduleo). Vinyl Tiles and Planks (Polyflor, Gerflor). Vinyl Sheet (Altro, Polyflor, Polysafe, Gerflor, Forbo). Carpet Tiles (Burmatex, Tarkett, Interface). Our services cover all aspects of the preparation works required prior to fitting new floor coverings. These include: Uplifting existing materials. Advising if a damp proof membrane is needed. Smoothing underlayments (screeding). Plywood for timber subfloors. We have over the years been able to create good working relationships between ourselves, our customers and other trade teams to allow jobs to be completed to a high standard.

Hello, I’m Richard. I’m a carpenter, originally from Bath, with over 20 years’ experience in the trade. Whilst carpentry is my specialism, I am happy, and able, to do all types of building work. I used to sub-contract to bigger firms but, this year, I started Black Dog Construction. My business is named after my Labrador, Luna; it’s her little face you see on my logo. She likes to come to work with me, although she still has a lot to learn about carpentry. My story is a bit unusual so let me bring you up to speed. I started this line of work before meeting my wife, Jen. We began our relationship just as she was about to join the Army. Being married to an Army lawyer comes with its challenges, not least because it’s impossible to win an argument against her. However, the main challenge we’ve faced is that we’ve lived apart a lot. We got married when Jen was posted to Germany. Since then, we’ve lived in Northern Ireland, London, Australia, Shrivenham, Middlesex and now York. To ensure some stability, I have generally stayed working for a firm in Suffolk (near my wife’s family) which has involved a lot of weekend commutes and time apart from Jen. The commute to Australia was a bit too far so I joined her there (it really wasn’t a tough decision). The two years we were there presented a wonderful opportunity to learn how carpentry was done Down Under. I came back with a lot of good friends, new skills and great memories. When we found out about the posting to York, we decided it was too far to commute and that we were done living apart (although I suspect this was more to do with Jen missing the dog than because she missed me). So Black Dog Construction was founded and here we are. Whilst working in Suffolk, I developed something of a niche in period property renovation and I understand the sensitivity required in conserving the history of these buildings. That said, I have built a lot of houses from scratch whilst working in Australia. My experience is, therefore, extremely broad and I take great pride in what I do for a living. What can I say? Richard was the perfect choice for the job not only did he fit the laminate flooring he fitted the skirting boards and a dozen internal doors. We were happy for him to have a key and come & go to suit himself. Hardworking doesn’t come close and he is the perfect workman to have in your home, clean & tidy and nothing was too much trouble for him. Hi I'm Neil Kell Im a multi semi skilled handyman/builder I undertake all kinds of internal and external work on properties ex gas or major electrics I do small domestic electrical work and cover all work in the home Including small jobs ie putting flat pack furniture together fitting blinds curtains no matter how small as well as doing a loft Conversion. Brilliant guy. Fair price quote . Came when he said he would. Broke down the costings and stuck to the quote. As a bonus Roy was a genuinely lovely person, patient with our dogs and even shared some doggy advice. Finished floors are beautiful. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I carry out any aspect of tiling work from bathrooms to kitchen splash backs to outdoor tiling. I go that extra step to make sure the client is is happy and gets the best finish possible, I will rip off and re board any walls that need it or any floor that needs some work, I’ll amend to give the client the best outcome they can have for their project.
